As Spruce Grove grows traffic is growing as well as is the use of cell phones. I can’t count the number of time that I have been almost run over by drivers talking on their cell phones and not paying attention.
Four way stops seem to be the worst. Many drivers lack basic understanding how they are supposed to work in the first place. But add a phone conversation in the mix and pedestrians become invisible. Large local-Yokels included.
Next on the scale of bad traffic scenarios are cell phone users turning left. While on her way back to Edmonton heading east on the highway at Century road a driver heading west and turning south onto Century totalled her little car while he was talking on his cell. Now as luck would have it, a year later, the car she was behind while crossing 170th street on Stony Plain road was T-Boned by a driver again talking on here cell.
I am sure we have all experienced this type of thing but we all seem to be in more of a hurry these days and in the habit of multi-tasking while driving but is it a good idea? I wonder how much of the revenues from photo radar are being applied to driver education if any.
