Dr. Jason Acker was recognized by Spruce Grove City Council on Monday night November 8th 2010 for receiving the Horizon Award from the University of Alberta.
Councillors Acker and Baxter presented Dr. Acker with the City of Spruce Grove's Outstanding Achievement Award.
The Horizon Award recognizes the outstanding achievements of University of Alberta alumni early in their careers and is presented to graduates who make significant contributions to their local communities and beyond.
Dr. Acker is a senior scientist with Canadian Blood Services and Associate Professor with the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology with the University of Alberta.
As a scientist with Canadian Blood Services, Dr. Acker heads the national development program which aims to improve the safety of the blood supply. Dr. Acker is also part of the Smithsonian Institute's international team protecting coral reefs through reproductive cell cryopreservation.
A sincere well done is in order for a refreshingly worthy achievement.
